Scheduled freight across Lake Victoria

Tugboat pulling a barge loaded with shipping containers on calm water.

Lake Victoria Tug & Barge (LVTB) is an eco-friendly inland waterway freight  company using proven push-boat & barge technology to move cross-border cargo across East Africa — faster, cheaper and cleaner than road.

Lake Victoria Tug & Barge is developing a scheduled pushboat-and-barge  service for containerized  and bulk freight linking Kenya and Uganda's ports.

We are building a sustainable hard-asset backed infrastructure shipping service.

This is the lower-emission inland waterway leg complementing East Africa’s Northern Corridor Road and Rail Networks.

What We Are Building

Scheduled inland waterway freight services complement road and rail, reduce pressure on overland corridors, and unlock scalable cargo movement across Lake Victoria.

Pushboat & Barge System

We have a modular marine platform using pushboats and flat-top barges. Capacity can scale by adding barges, while keeping vessel operations robust, practical and suited to regional port infrastructure.

Designed for containerised cargo, bulk, breakbulk, project cargo and selected RoRo movements. The service is intended for freight forwarders, cargo owners, transporters and regional logistics partners.
